The Nauryz Festival, celebrated by Kazakhs in Mongolia, and by most Central Asian countries is believed to be the oldest continuously celebrated festival in the world.  Celebrating the coming of Spring, it is a time of reconciliation and renewal, and hospitality.  Sharing food together with friends and family is central to the celebration.

Option 1.  5 days with domestic flights from Ulaanbaatar and return. (Est. $990 per person)

March 21.  Domestic flight from Ulaanbaatar to Ulgii. 
March 22.  Nauryz Festival in Ulgii.  Drive to Sagsai in the evening and stay with a Kazakh Eagle Hunting Family.  Join in the Nauryz celebrations.
March 23.  Traditional horseback competitions (Kokpar), Eagle competition. To beautiful Tolbo Lake for the evening.
March 24.  To Khovd (or Ulgii) for return flight to Ulaanbaatar.

Option 2.  9 days driving from Ulaanbaatar and return. (Est. $1300 per person)

March 18.  Depart UB by private car. The Little Gobi, Erdenezuu Monastery in Kharhorin. Overnight at Fairfield Guesthouse.
March 19.  Khorgo Volcano and Tsagaan Nuur (White Lake). Overnight in Tosontsengel.
March 20.  Khyargas Nuur (Lake), then stay with the family of a traditional throat singer and horse-head fiddle musician.
March 21.  Drive to Ulgii via Achit Nuur (Lake).
March 22.  Nauryz Festival in Ulgii.  Drive to Sagsai in the evening and stay with a Kazakh Eagle Hunting Family.  Join in the Nauryz celebrations.
March 23.  Traditional horseback competitions (Kokpar), Eagle competition. To beautiful Tolbo Lake for the evening.
March 24.  Drive to Khovd city. Hotel/guesthouse accommodation.
March 25.  Drive to Shalgarjuut Hot Springs Resort in Bayankhongor Province.
March 26.  Return to Ulaanbaatar
