Tour summary
Starting and ending at Fairfield, drive to Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur stopping enroute at Taikher Chuluu, then again at the Chuluut Gorge, an impressive and beautiful canyon right beside the main road. Continue into the town of Tariat, then enter the national park and drive through the lava field, past the base of the Khorgo Volcano, then on an 'interesting' road to the lake edge.
Stay in a comfortable tourist camp on the lake edge for two nights. Explore the lake edge, swim if you are brave, fish, take out a boat, hike up to the top of the surrounding mountains if you are feeling energetic, or ask the camp staff to arrange for you to ride horses for a few hours.
Check out of your ger camp, then drive to the Yellow Dog Cave, a huge sinkhole just a few hundred metres off the road. Continue driving back to the base of the Khorgo Volcano, and climb up the rocky trail to the lip of the enormous crater. Take in stunning views over the volcano, lava field, and back over White Lake.
Return to Fairfield Guesthouse again to complete your tour.
